Collaborations

Community is people, life, and home.

Being able to meet people and enrich lives through Art combines two of my greatest passions, and it brings me great joy to do so!

Art is something of yourself and so, can touch anyone.

I’ve witnessed this in my work with the Kindergarten children of Winnipeg Beach, where we constructed our own little village. And I’ve seen it in the work I, and fellow artist Marlene Van Helden, have done with the patients of Selkirk’s Mental Health Centre’s Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program.

Art is for everyone, and I’m proud to be working with the community, especially the people below, to bring it to them.

Coming up!

“Don’t Wake the Rooster”

Keep an eye out for a book to crow about.

A tale about facing your fears and finding your courage under the tyranny of poultry.

A special thank you to my niece, Amanda Close who helped with the writing of the story, and to Michael Long who photographed my illustrations.

Stay tuned for more details…

The Vintage Quiltery

Painting + Quilting = Quaintings!?

My latest art-venture uniquely merges my love of painting on fabric with Jacquie’s beautiful and intricate quilting.

Quilting adds texture and motion to a piece in a way that brings these hand-dyed and painted fabrics to life. Together, they, and we, are able to tell a story that neither could accomplish on their own.

Look out for our Quaint wall-hangings, pillows, and other whimsical creations at markets this 2021 season.

Watch the Wave

Each year the Interlake Wave washes in during the month of June and out again in September. With it, comes unique art produced by dozens of artists in the Interlake area.

In 2015 I was proud to become a member of this outstanding community, and remains a featured artist on the circuit.

Winnipeg Beach Art + Culture Co-op boasts year-round activities such as classes and artist studio tours that offer a glimpse into their world, as well as putting on this award winning semi-annual event. Wind your way along Lake Winnipeg’s western shore for an art experience you’ll never forget.

Community

Partnering with the Dunnotter Community Centre and Sending Kids to School with Dignity in 2019, I led the local children in creating this meaningful mosaic.

The mosaic was then raffled off as a fundraiser to provide school supplies to children who otherwise would have to go without.

Each child was given a tile to paint with whatever their hearts desired. The result was this beautiful conglomeration of sunshine, rainbows, ice cream and love. Truly a representation of joy in the hearts of those most cherished in the community.

Jessica Dawn / Writing /

Thank you, JD!

When my website no longer reflected my journey and what I wanted to show to the world, Jessica Dawn gave the website a much needed refresh.

I love the words she uses and how playful and fun everything sounds! Thank you for your great work so far.
